What is the process of production of starch from potato ?
The production of starch from potato process is the process of extracting starch from potato with water as medium. The whole process is a physical process which takes use of the properties of starch is insoluble in water and its gravity is heavier than water, to extract and recover starch from the suspension of water.
Potato starch
First. choose potatoes, remove stones, wash:
It is best to choose fresh potatoes with high starch content as raw materials for production of starch from potato, and remove diseases, insects and rotten potatoes for processing. Before the potatoes are washed, it is first necessary to remove the stones and gravel attached to the potatoes. Washing is mainly carried out in a drum washing device. Depending on the washing space of the potato and the amount of washing water, the sediment and its impurities are removed by washing water.
Second. potato crushing:
In order to increase the yield of starch, Doing Company's advanced grinding machine can be used for crushing. Alternatively, the method of crushing can be taken twice for production of starch from potato. After the first crushing is conducted, the filter residue is further crushed for a second time.
When crushing, a certain amount of soft water should be added to make the starch slurry diluted, so as not to affect its fluidity.

Third. separation washing, precipitation:
The starch slurry contains various impurities that needs to be separated for starch quality improvement. Industrial production of starch from potato commonly used centrifugal separation method, while traditional processing methods usually adopts acid slurry method. The first role of acid slurry is to promote precipitation, and the second is to make the black powder in the starch floating on the white powder, reducing starch loss and waste.
Fourth. sand removal, concentration and purification:
Sand removal, just as the name indicates, is to remove sand impurities in the process of production of starch from potato. Due to the specific gravity of sand is greater than that of water, and is greater than the specific gravity of starch granules. According to the principle of separation of specific gravity, the use of cyclone sand removal or the use of the trough sedimentation method can achieve better results.
The specific gravity of the yellow pulp in starch is close to that of water and is lighter than that of starch granules. Industrial production of starch from potato is typically washed countercurrently with a rotator to remove small amounts of soluble proteins and inorganic salts from the crude starch pulp. Because the longer the processing cycle, the greater the gel performance, not only will it stick to the screen, but also stick to the starch granules, causing it extremely difficult to separate. Therefore, the raw materials are required to be fresh, the processing time shall be short, and the separation should be timely.

Fifth. Starch dehydration and drying:
The refined starch milk has a high water content and should be dehydrated and dried in time in the process of production of starch from potato. Starch dehydration is usually carried out by vacuum dehydrater, whose dewatering rate is high, and can realize automatic scraper discharge. Then the wet starch needs to be further dried to commercial grade. At present, the airflow drying method (also called instant drying) is generally used in potato starch processing plant which complete the whole drying process in an instant. The process is to exchange heat in a dryer tube in a balanced manner with a high temperature gas stream and wet starch to make the dried starch powdery. After the starch is cooled, it can be packed into the warehouse.
Equipment for production of starch from potato processing capacity and output:
10 tons / hour production line: about 50 tons of refined potatoe starch;
21 tons / hour production line: about 100 tons of refined potatoe starch;
31 tons / hour production line: about 150 tons of refined potatoe starch;
41 tons / hour production line: about 200 tons of refined potatoe starch.
